The top is fruity and lively, with litchi sweet and bright, bergamot adding a citrus lift and ginger a sharp, warming edge. In the heart, peony and rose form a soft bouquet over a veil of vanilla, which keeps the flowers smooth and round. The base turns deeper, as the chocolate accord brings a gourmand richness and patchouli an earthy anchor.

Romantic and warm, it suits autumn and winter and moves from day into night with ease: formal gatherings, a dinner for two, an ordinary day made a little special. Rated at six to eight hours, it clings well to clothing. It works on its own, and it also layers nicely under other scents.
