The top is lively and bitter-edged: grapefruit, lemon and lime with galbanum, thyme and wormwood. In the heart, rose and jasmine meet pink pepper, juniper and cypress, while apple and blackcurrant add a little sweetness and vetiver and cedar give it backbone. The base turns warm and smooth, with leather and incense over benzoin, amber and vanilla.

The result is layered and polished, moving from a sharp, aromatic opening to a resinous, leathery finish without ever feeling heavy. Rated at eight to ten hours, it works in every season. Wear it to the office, on long days of travel, or into the evening, when the incense and leather come forward.
