As the first piece warms, a spicy, lively burst fills the room, quickly softened by a fresher undertone. The middle stage is rich and aromatic, resinous and warm, the smoke growing deeper as it burns. In the last layer, musk and oud come through, earthy and deep, leaving a warm, smoky trail that hangs in the air after the bakhoor has gone.

Use it to scent a living room before guests arrive, to perfume clothes and scarves by holding them above the smoke, or to set a calm mood for quiet evenings and prayer. Light one small piece at a time; that is enough for an ordinary room, and you can add another as the first burns down.
